Tillable World

A game-style way to set your venue up — walk around a drawing of your venue and open the real screen for each job.

Tillable World is another way in to the screens you already have. Instead of finding each one in the menu, you walk around a drawing of your venue and open them where they belong: the floor plan on the dining floor, the menu at the bar, kitchen screens in the kitchen, your team in the staff room.

It is on trial, so you will only see it if we have switched it on for your venue.

Open it

Go to Settings → Tillable World.

The welcome tour

The first time you open Tillable World for a venue, a short tour of five steps shows you how to walk, go into a room and do a job. Skip the tour or Esc ends it. To see it again, open the list of levels (the arrow at the right end of the level bar) and choose Replay the tour.

A brand-new venue starts in the staff room

If your venue has no roles, no team and no menu yet, you start in the staff room and the other rooms show a padlock. Create your roles and add your first team member, and the rest of the venue opens. You only see this if you are allowed to manage staff.

Until then you can still look at the whole venue with Back to the venue, and Back to the portal always works. Every job can also be done from the normal portal.

3D or flat

Your venue is drawn in 3D, like a model you look down on. Choose Flat view on the bar at the top for the flat drawing instead, and 3D view to go back. Your browser remembers which you chose. If your computer cannot show 3D, you get the flat drawing.

  • When you walk behind a wall, it dips down so you can still see yourself.
  • If your computer struggles, the 3D lowers its own quality so it stays smooth.

Get around

  • Walk with the arrow keys, or W A S D. Hold Shift to run. You can also click the floor to walk there.
  • Stand in a room and press Space to step inside. The room fills the screen.
  • Walk onto a yellow pad and press Space to use it. The bubble over your head says what Space will do, for example "Press “Space” to add your team".
  • Walk out through the door to leave the room.
  • In the corridor, Space zooms out to show the whole venue, and again to zoom back in.

Open a real screen

Each yellow pad is a job, such as Set up floor plan or Build your menu.

  • Using a pad opens the real Tillable screen for that job, filling the whole window. A slim bar at the top takes you back to the venue.
  • A builder, such as menus, receipts or till screens, starts by asking for a name. Type one and you are in the builder. Anything you have already made is listed beside it to carry on with.
  • If you have no menu yet, Build your menu opens your Menus page on Start your menu, where Get started here walks you through your first one.
  • If the job has several screens, they are tabs along the top of the window.
  • Set up floor plan asks for a name the first time, creates the floor plan, and opens the builder on it.
  • Open full page leaves the world and opens that screen on its own.
  • The till and the card machine stand on the bar. Walk up to the till to design its screens, and to the card machine for devices and receipts.
  • The till first explains what a till screen is. If your venue already has one you can choose Use the screen I have and carry on; Design my own opens the till screens. Once you have chosen Design my own, the till opens straight away.
  • Every builder has a home: the kitchen for kitchen screens and tickets, the office for reports and the dashboard, the online world for your website and bookings. With room charge on, the stairs lead to your hotel rooms.

The rocket and the online world

A rocket stands on the right of your venue. Walk along the path to it and press Space, then choose Launch. It flies you up to the online world, where everything your guests see on their phone lives.

  • You stand on a cloud. Walk around it with the arrow keys. There are four pads: Your website, QR order and pay, Click and collect and Bookings. Stand on one and press Space to open its real screens.
  • To come back, use the Rocket home pad, press Esc, or choose Back to the venue. On the way down, the tower beside the launch pad catches the rocket and lowers it onto the pad.

The train and the marketplace

A train waits on the left of your venue. Walk to it and press Space to see its stops: the marketplace, and each tool you can connect Tillable to. Pick a stop and choose Go to it. After a short ride the stop's page opens.

  • If the marketplace is not open for your venue yet, the card says No trains today.
  • Esc skips a flight or a ride. If your device is set to reduce motion, there is no flight or ride: you go straight there.

Levels

Tillable World sets your venue up in order, one level at a time. The bar under the top of the page shows the level you are on and the next job. The arrow at its right end lists every level.

  1. Your team: create your roles, then add your first team member.
  2. Your menu: add something to sell.
  3. Your kitchen: add a station, set your courses, then send dishes to a station.
  4. Your floor: put a table on your floor plan and make a section.
  5. Opening hours and money: set your opening hours.
  6. Till and card machine: connect one.

After that the bonus rooms open: stock, offers and loyalty. The rocket takes you to your online world, and the train to the marketplace.

  • A task ticks itself when the real thing exists in your account. There is no button to mark it done.
  • Take me there walks you to the next job and stops on its pad. Press Space there to open it.
  • The room with your next job has a dashed yellow outline and a Go here next flag. Inside it, the pad is marked Next.
  • Each level starts with a short card that says what the level is for and lists its jobs. You see it once.
  • A pad with a padlock belongs to a later level, or to a later job in the level you are on. Using it tells you what to do first. Skip for now opens it anyway (the one exception is a brand-new venue's first two jobs, above), and what you skipped stays in the list of levels to come back to.
  • A level only lists what your plan includes. With no kitchen screens, for example, the kitchen level has nothing to do.
  • When you come back from a screen where you finished a job, a card says so and offers two ways on: go to the next job, or keep setting up where you were. Finishing a level offers Carry on with my levels. Opening Tillable World does not congratulate you for what you had already done.
  • Levels, and what you skipped, are kept for each venue in your browser.

These are your real Tillable screens, so anything you change there is saved as normal. To go back to the world, choose Back to the venue or click outside the window. You return to the spot you left.

A few screens, such as payments set-up, always open on their own page.

Your dining floor

The dining floor shows your real floor plan: every table where you placed it, turned the same way, with its seats and its number. Change the plan with the Set up floor plan pad. When you close the window, the dining floor shows your changes.

Your team

The people walking around are your real team. Each person is in the room that matches their job: chefs in the kitchen, bar staff behind the bar, managers in the office.

  • Create your roles on the Roles pad first, so each person can be given one.
  • Add someone on the Add your team pad. When you close the window they appear in the world.
  • Click a person to open their profile and change their details.
  • The Staff button at the top shows everyone, or one person per room.

Make the character yours

Click yourself, or choose Customise me, to pick a name, hair, clothes and extras. This is saved in your browser only.

Good to know

  • Tillable World does not store anything about your venue. It only opens screens.
  • A pad may open a screen you do not have switched on. Tillable World tells you it "isn't switched on for your venue yet" and you can carry on. If you see "page not found" instead, that feature is not part of your plan yet either.
  • Back to the portal at the top takes you to your dashboard.
  • Older browsers may not be able to show a screen inside the window. Use Open full page if the window stays empty.
