Welcome to your portal

A quick tour of the portal — the sidebar and the sections you'll use most.

The portal is where you set your business up and keep it running. You build your items and menus here, configure how your tills behave, manage your devices, and read your reports. Your tills and customer-facing pages all read from what you set here, so the portal is the single place you change things.

This is a quick orientation. If you're brand new, read it, then go to Your first steps for a setup checklist.

How the portal is laid out

Everything is reached from the sidebar on the left. Some rows are single links (like Home); others are groups that contain a set of pages.

The sections you'll use most:

  • Home — your dashboard. A summary of recent sales, a Set up payments card (get card payments live and order your hardware), a Set up with AI card (a helper that drafts your setup — it shows until you've set a business name) and a Set up your POS checklist while you're still setting things up. The POS checklist starts closed — click its header to open it. A row goes green only once that thing can really be used, so the list is a straight answer to "what is left" rather than a record of what you have opened. The payments card's first row says Start taking payments until you've begun and Continue setting up payments after, so you can always tell whether you've got something part-finished. Once you've sent your application that same row follows it: being checked, needs something from you, or set up — with a green tick when it's done. If you're already taking card payments, the Set up payments card doesn't apply to you: ask support to switch it off and it disappears from your dashboard. If you run more than one location, Home also gets a Location dropdown under the welcome line — pick a site and the takings, transaction count, average basket and the revenue and transactions charts all show that site only. Click Customize → Add widget to put more on Home: a Transactions chart (how many sales, by day, week or month, beside the week before), Sales by menu (takings split by the menu each item was rung from) and, if you run a loyalty scheme, Loyalty members (your member total and a line of how it has grown). Each can be resized, and keeps the time frame you pick on it. Someone you've given a login to sees the tiles their access level covers: Top customers only if it includes customer records, and Bookings today only if it includes the diary (see Giving someone else a login).
  • Items — your products, categories, menus, modifiers and VAT rates.
  • Transactions — the log of sales taken on your devices (also under Reports → Transactions).
  • Reports — sales and performance figures.
  • Account & settings — who your business is: your account details, branding, your terms and privacy notice, and locations.
  • Store settings — how your business runs: opening hours, service charges, devices, modes, passcodes, and your printers and receipt layouts.
  • Support — these help articles.

Drilling into a group

A group doesn't take you anywhere on its own — clicking it slides the sidebar across to show that group's pages, with a Back row at the top to return. So to reach, say, your menus:

  1. Click Items in the sidebar — the panel slides to the Items pages.
  2. Click Menus to open the menu editor.
  3. Click Back at the top of the panel to return to the main sidebar.

The pages inside each group (using the arrow → to mean "is inside"):

  • Items → Menus, Categories, Products, Modifiers, VAT, Bulk import (plus Offers and Menu settings if enabled).
  • Account & settings → Account, Branding, Legal, Locations.
  • Store settings → Opening hours, Service charges, Devices, Modes, Passcodes, Cash drawer, Printers and Receipt layouts (plus Availability profiles, Payment settings, Screen saver, Screen profiles, Wastage reasons and Donation reasons if enabled).
  • Reports → Reports, Report settings, Transactions, Report groups and AI Reporting.

The sidebar on desktop and mobile

On a wide screen the sidebar stays pinned to the left. You can drag its right edge to resize it, or collapse it to a narrow icon strip with the collapse button — your choice is remembered. On a phone or narrow window it becomes a drawer you open from the menu button in the top bar.
