Moving stock between places
Send an ingredient's stock from one place to another, or transfer it between sites. This used to be the Dispatcher.
Moving stock around — spirits from the store room to the bar, a keg from one site to another — happens on the Stock list.
Note
This was a page of its own called the Dispatcher. It did the same two things Stock already does, so it moved there. The old link still works and brings you to Stock.
Note
Inventory must be switched on for your account for this to appear.
Send stock to another place
- 1
Open Inventory → Stock
Find the ingredient — search by name, or filter by the dish it goes into.
- 2
Click Send on its row
The "Send stock" dialog opens showing every place that ingredient's stock can sit, and how much is in each. Sending saves on its own — it does not wait for the Save button at the top of the Stock page.
- 3
Choose where it's coming from
Usually the place holding the most. Stock that hasn't been assigned to a section sits in Holding (not on a section).
- 4
Pick the places it's going to, and how to split it
Evenly, by percentage, or an exact amount each. Whatever you don't send stays where it was — the dialog shows how much that is as you type.
- 5
Send
Every place updates at once. The counts on the list behind it update too.
If the ingredient is counted by a container, the whole dialog speaks in containers — "2 kegs" rather than raw millilitres — with the base-unit total alongside.
Transfer between sites
With more than one site, a Transfer stock card sits above the list: pick an ingredient, a from and a to, and a quantity. It moves that amount from one location's count straight to the other's. Use Send instead when you are splitting stock across sections, or across more than two places at once.
With a single site there is no transfer card — there is nowhere to transfer to.
Putting an ingredient in an area
If you just want to say where something lives rather than split it up, you don't need Send. Tick the rows on Stock and use Set area, or do it on the Count sheet under Set up areas. Whatever that ingredient holds at the site moves to the area with it, so the totals don't change — only where they're counted. Use Send when you want to split one ingredient's stock across several places at once.
What's next
- Stock — the list all of this happens on.
- Adjust stock counts — when the number is wrong rather than in the wrong place.
- Count sheet — count a whole site in one pass.
