Serving sizes
Tell us what a double, a pint or a large glass pours, so sized drinks count the right amount.
A serving size is how much a size word pours. A double is 50 ml. A pint is 568 ml. A large glass of wine is 250 ml. Setting them is what makes a sized drink count the right amount against its recipe, instead of counting every sale the same.
Note
Serving sizes sit under Inventory → Recipes → Serving sizes (the Serving sizes option at the top of the Recipes page). Inventory and usage reporting must both be switched on for your account.
Why it matters
If a gin and tonic's recipe says 25 ml of gin, then a double gin and tonic pours 50 ml, not 25 ml. Without a serving size, both sales count as 25 ml and your usage is half of what really left the bottle.
What is read automatically
Singles, doubles, pints, halves and glasses are read from your product and option names, so most of the work is already done. A row that was read automatically is marked auto with the size we read.
Set one by hand
- 1
Open Serving sizes
From Inventory → Recipes, choose Serving sizes.
- 2
Find the product or option
The list shows the products and add-on options a serving size can apply to.
- 3
Set the pour
Choose the size it pours, or type one in millilitres where we could not read it from the name.
Tick what scales
A recipe line only grows with the serving if it is meant to. The gin in a double does; the tonic and the ice do not. What scales with the serving lists your recipe lines so you can tick the ones that follow the size. Rows with no size signal at all are folded away until you choose to show them.
