Low-stock alerts

There's no push, email or badge — you check the Stock levels tab. Here's how to make that a routine.

This is the part merchants most often expect to work differently, so to be plain about it up front.

Heads up

Low-stock warnings are not proactive. Tillable does not send you an email, Slack, SMS or push notification, and there is no portal badge, when an ingredient hits its par level. You see low and out-of-stock items only when you open the Stock levels tab and look at the status column, or the Running out tab.

What a par level does

Setting a par level controls when an item is flagged as Below par on the Stock levels tab and on the Purchasing To buy list. It doesn't switch on any alerting. With no par level, an ingredient never counts as low.

You can set the same minimum on many ingredients at once: tick them on Stock and use Minimum level, then press Save.

See Stock levels for setting par levels and reading the status column.

If you count in areas, Low and Out are worked out from everything the site holds — the general pool plus every area added together — so a full cellar is never flagged just because the general pool is empty.

Make it part of a routine

If you want to "get warned before you run out", the workflow is to check the Stock levels tab as part of your routine — for example at open or close — and act on anything showing Below par or Out. Don't wait for a notification; one won't arrive.

Two habits that catch most surprises:

  • At open — tap At or below par and Out of stock at the top of Stock, and act on today's gaps before service.
  • At close — open the Running out tab; anything critical becomes a purchase order tomorrow. See Create a purchase order.

Dishes at risk

The Dishes at risk panel on Stock's Running out tab is the fastest read for "what can I still sell". It lists menu items whose recipes contain a low or out ingredient — so you see the knock-on effect, not just the raw count. Tap a dish to filter the list to just its ingredients.
