Sales with add-ons that can't be counted

Why the Stock page sometimes says recent sales didn't deplete stock for an add-on, and what to do about it.

Stock sometimes shows a banner: "N sales in the last 7 days carried add-ons that couldn't be counted against stock." This is Tillable telling you about a gap, rather than letting it sit invisible — those particular add-ons didn't reduce any ingredient's on-hand count, even though the dish they were on did.

Note

Inventory must be switched on for your account for this to appear.

Why it happens

A dish's own recipe always depletes stock normally. An add-on — an extra tied to a modifier, like "add cheese" or "add a shot" — only depletes stock when it's linked to an ingredient. Two things cause a sale to be uncounted:

  • The add-on was never linked to an ingredient. Set up a recipe for the add-on option itself so future sales of it do deplete stock.
  • The sale came from an older order shape that didn't carry enough detail to identify which option was chosen (rare — usually a very old integration or a malformed upload).

Either way, the sale itself is unaffected — this only concerns the stock count, not the order or the payment.

What to do

  1. Check which add-ons are involved. If they're extras you sell often, linking them to an ingredient means future sales count correctly.
  2. If your count looks off after a busy period, a quick count sheet pass on the affected ingredient brings the number back in line — a manual count is always the source of truth over what the system inferred.
  3. The banner clears itself once no sale in the last 7 days carries an uncounted add-on — there's nothing to dismiss by hand.

What's next

  • Stock levels — where the banner appears.
  • Count sheet — the fastest way to reset a count that's drifted.
  • Ingredients — the raw materials an add-on can be linked to.
