Which tables fill first
Turn individual tables on for online booking and choose the order they're filled, per party size.
The Auto-assignment card on a booking setup decides which tables can be booked online and the order they fill. It sits near the bottom of the setup, below Sections — the tables it lists are the tables in the sections that setup books, so there is nothing to show until at least one section is attached. If the card says there is nothing to assign yet, attach a section further up the page and the tables appear.
Turning combinations off for a setup
Combinations are on for every setup to start with. If a setup shouldn't ever seat a party across pushed-together tables — a bar menu, say, where you'd rather keep the small tables free — switch Use table combinations off at the top of the Combinations section.
It's per setup, so you can leave them on for dinner and off for the bar. With it off, that setup only ever seats a party at a single table, both on your booking page and when you take a booking yourself.
Your ordering isn't thrown away. Turn combinations back on and the list is exactly as you left it.
Choosing which combination is tried first
If you've declared table groups, they appear under Combinations at the bottom of each party size, with the seats each one takes.
Drag them to choose which combination is tried first for that party size. A combination only shows for sizes it actually seats.
Single tables are always tried before any combination. A party is only put on a combination when no single table is free — so you never lose two small tables to a party that would have fitted on one. That's why combinations are ranked in their own list rather than mixed in with the tables above: their order decides which combination wins, not whether a combination beats a table.
Dragging a combination out of a party size stops it being offered for that size at all.
When no table is big enough
If no table fits a party size, the card says so — and points you at table groups, where you can declare tables that can be pushed together. A party too large for any single table is exactly what groups are for, and once one is declared it's offered automatically for that size.
What you can set
- Turn individual tables on or off for online booking, section by section.
- For each party size (2, 3, 4, 5, 6+), the list shows only the bookable tables big enough to seat that party — a 2-seat table won't appear under a party of 4. Drag them into the order you want them filled; a party of that size fills the list top to bottom.
- Switch a table off for one party size. Each table in the list has its own toggle. Turn it off to stop offering that table for the selected size only — so a 5-seat table can take a party of 4 or 5 but never a party of 2. It stays bookable for every other size, and for walk-ups on the till.
Heads up
If you switch every table off for a party size (or none is big enough), that size can't be booked online — the page tells you. Turn one back on to offer it again.
Saving your changes
Everything on this card — the table switches, the per-party-size switches and the fill order — is saved by the one Save button at the top of the setup page, not by the card itself. It stays greyed out until you actually change something, and "Unsaved changes" appears next to it while you have work waiting. One click saves the whole page, so you can adjust the tables, the rules and the booking flow together and save once.
Note
Switching between party sizes to look at each list doesn't count as a change — Save only wakes up when you've actually changed something.
