Ask guests for a review
Send a review request after a visit and keep your Google, TripAdvisor or Yelp link in one place.
Reviews sends a guest an email after they have been in, asking them to leave a review, with a link straight to your own review page. Open Bookings → Reviews.
Note
We send the request. We never see the review. Your reviews live on Google, TripAdvisor or Yelp and stay there — nothing comes back into your portal. We cannot tell you what anybody wrote, or how many stars they gave you, because we never receive it.
Note
Reviews is part of the Bookings Pro add-on. If it doesn't appear under Bookings, ask your account manager to enable Bookings Pro. There's no self-serve switch.
Is anything actually being sent?
The first thing on the screen answers that, because four different things can each stop review requests dead:
- You haven't written the message. This is where every venue starts. Unlike your booking confirmation, the review request is not set up for you — it does not exist until you create it.
- The message is switched off.
- There's no timing, so nothing schedules it.
- Sending is switched off.
There is a fifth state worth knowing: everything is switched on but your review link is broken or empty. Guests still get the email — they just have nowhere to go when they click. The screen says so plainly rather than showing you a tick.
Opening and closing the two cards
Your review link and Your review request both start open. Click a card's title to fold it away once you're happy with it, and click again to bring it back.
A folded card still shows its own summary line underneath the title — your link, or when the request goes out. If that half isn't set up, the line says so in red rather than going quiet, so a folded card never hides a problem.
Your review link
This is the page you want guests to land on. Paste the full web address and click Save.
We check the shape of the link and tell you what we see:
- "Opens the Google review box straight away." — the best kind. A
https://g.page/r/…/reviewlink drops the guest into the review box. - "Opens your Google listing." — fine too, the guest taps Write a review when they get there.
- "This opens your Google listing, not the review box. Add /review to the end of the link." — the most common mistake. Google hands out both versions of the link and they look almost identical.
- "This is Google's home page, not your venue's page." — the link points at the site, not at you.
- "We don't recognise … so we can't check it for you." — you're using another site, which is fine. We'll send it exactly as written.
Note
We do not open the link to see whether it works — we only read its shape. Use Open it and check beside the field: it opens your link in a new tab so you can see the review box appear. That is the only way to be certain, and it takes a second.
You need a booking page web address before you can save a review link. If you see "Set your booking page web address first", go to Booking settings → Your booking page, save your web address, then come back.
Leaving the field empty and saving removes the link. Requests then go out with a blank where the link should be, so only do that if you've stopped asking.
Your review request
If you've never written one, the screen says so and offers you a starting wording. Use this wording and start sending creates the message and its timing in one press — both are needed, and one without the other sends nothing. The words are yours from that moment and you can change every one of them.
Once it exists you can edit here:
- Subject — the line a guest sees in their inbox.
- Send after — how many hours after the booking it goes out. 24 is a good default: late enough that the meal is over, soon enough that they remember it.
- Message switched on and Sending on — either being off stops it.
Edit the wording opens the full message editor, where you write the body and
insert {'{{review_url}}'} — the merge token that becomes your review link.
What this screen deliberately doesn't do
- It doesn't show your reviews or your rating. We have no connection to Google, TripAdvisor or Yelp, so we cannot read anything from them.
- It doesn't tell you who clicked. We know the email left; we don't yet know whether anyone opened the link.
- It doesn't list who was asked, or who was skipped. Those two tables were removed in September 2026. They were accurate, but this screen is where you set review requests up, not where you audit them.
What's next
- Booking messages — write and personalise the wording.
- Booking automations — the other timed messages: reminders, the confirmation chase, win-backs and birthdays.
- Channels — the sender guests see.
