Read a sale in detail
Open a sale from the log — status, totals, items, split breakdown, and the receipt card for emailing a receipt.
Click any row in the sales log to open the full sale. The page is for reading, with one action on it: you can email the receipt to a customer. On a phone the itemised breakdown stacks into one card per item so it stays readable without scrolling sideways; on a wider screen it's a table.
What the page shows
- The status and, for sales that weren't approved, the reason.
- Charged, grand total (including any gratuity) and the card scheme.
- The table and sat-down time, for tab-paid sales.
- The device and menu used.
- The site the sale was taken at — only if you have more than one location. Sales paid online carry no site and show as Not recorded. The site is fixed at the moment of sale, so moving a terminal to another venue later never changes what a past sale says.
- An itemised breakdown — each item, quantity, unit price and line total, plus any modifiers, discounts, gratuity and gift-card amount.
- Refunds, if the sale has any — each one with its amount and time. A Card refund shows its payment reference. A Cash refund has no card to reference, so it shows the reason staff picked on the till and any note they typed instead. On a split bill, it says which bill the refund came off.
The receipt card
At the bottom of the page is a Receipt card. It shows every time a receipt has been emailed for this sale — the address it went to, when, and whether it sent or failed — and an Email receipt button to send another.
The address box is pre-filled with the last one you used, so sending again to the same customer is a single press. If the address was wrong, you'll see it in the list and can correct it before sending.
The button is unavailable when there's nothing to send: a sale that wasn't approved has no receipt, and a very old sale may predate digital receipts. The card tells you which.
See Resend a receipt for a past sale for the full walkthrough, including the terminal route.
What you still can't do here
- Refunds — you can't refund here. Refunds are done on the terminal. Find the same sale on your device's Records screen and refund it there. See Refund a settled sale.
- Voiding a sale is likewise a terminal action.
Other than emailing a receipt, the portal is your back office for reviewing sales, and the terminal is where you act on them. See Sales and transactions — overview.
Who took the sale
If you use Staff, a Staff tile shows who was signed in when the sale was taken. It shows the name recorded at the time — so it stays correct even if that person later leaves and you remove them from your staff list.
Unattributed means nobody was signed in, or the sale was a split bill or a payment sent to a card machine from the till. The tile says which.
Split bills
When a table paid in more than one go, the detail page shows a split breakdown — each part of the bill, whether it was card or cash, and the amounts. It also checks that the parts add up to the order total and flags it if they don't.
Gift cards
If a gift card was used, the breakdown shows how much the card covered and how much was charged to a card on the terminal.
