Design kitchen tickets
The Ticket editor is where you design printed kitchen chits. On-screen KDS card layouts live in Screen editor — start here to pick which kind you need.
Kitchen tickets come in two kinds, each with its own editor:
- Printer tickets — how a ticket looks when it prints at a printer station. Designed in the Ticket editor (KDS → Ticket editor). Click New printer ticket to start from a ready-made chit — Classic kitchen, Compact or Pass — or a blank canvas.
- KDS screen layouts — how a ticket looks on a kitchen display screen. Designed in the Screen editor (KDS → Screen editor).
Note
KDS must be switched on for your account. If you don't see it, ask your account manager.
Note
Some venues have a new Ticket editor page. It lists your printer tickets with the stations that print each one, and adds search, Export and deleting several at once. Your tickets are the same and print the same. See Design a printer ticket.
Which one do I need?
Depends on how the station outputs (see Set up kitchen stations):
- A station that shows on a screen uses a screen layout.
- A station that prints uses a printer ticket.
Same station kind can appear on both — a printer station with Also show on a screen on uses both a printer ticket and a screen layout.
Design a layout
- Design a KDS screen layout — drag-and-drop the fields on a kitchen-display card, then assign it to one or more screen stations.
- Design a printer ticket — build a chit on a paper canvas, then assign it to a printer station.
