Sell a gift card at the till
Issue a gift card to a customer from the till — value, optional email, and take the payment.
Selling a gift card happens on the till, not in the portal. A gift card is not a menu item — you don't add it to a menu. It's a dedicated action.
Note
Gift cards must be switched on for your account. If the till has no Gift cards option, ask your account manager.
- 1
Open the More menu and tap Gift cards
From the till, open the More menu and choose Gift cards. This opens the issue screen.
- 2
Enter the value
In Value (£), type the amount the customer is buying, e.g.
25.00. It must be between £0.01 and £1,000,000. - 3
Add a customer email (optional)
Fill in Customer email (optional) if the customer wants the card sent to them. If you enter one, they'll receive an email with the card as a scannable QR and a link to check its balance. Leave it blank to just hand over the code.
- 4
Tap Issue gift card
The card is created instantly and the screen shows its code (e.g.
GC-ABCD-EFGH-IJKL) and expiry. Hand or read the code to the customer; if you entered an email, the QR is on its way to them too.
Take the payment for the card the same way you take any sale. The new card appears on the portal Promotions → Gift cards page straight away — you don't enter it there by hand. Tap Issue another to sell a second card.
Note
Cards expire automatically (24 months from sale by default), so a card sold today is good for a long time. The expiry shows on the confirmation and on the card's detail page in the portal.
