Leave at table
Set up the flow where a card machine is left on the table and guests order and pay on it themselves, with nobody serving them.
Leave at table puts one of your card machines on the table and lets the guests run the whole thing themselves: browse the menu, send the order to the kitchen, add another round, then pay on that same machine at the end. Nobody takes the order and nobody comes over to take payment.
The section only appears when Leave at table is switched on for your account. Once it is, Leave at table sits under Store settings in the left-hand menu — open Store settings and it expands to show its two pages: Setup (this one) and Devices, where you say which table each machine sits on.
Heads up
Leave at table runs on a tab, so Table service must be on as well. Without it there is nothing for the guests to order onto, and the Setup page tells you so at the top.
When do guests pay?
Three choices, the same three as QR ordering, and you can change your mind whenever you like.
- A team member takes payment — guests order on the machine and someone comes over to take payment. The tab is left open for your team to settle on the till.
- Pay before each round — guests pay for each round on the machine before it goes to the kitchen. Food only fires once the card is approved.
- Pay at the end — guests order freely across rounds, sent to the kitchen straight away, then settle the whole table on the machine when they are done. This is the default, and it is the one the flow was designed around: one card for the lot, split by item, or split evenly.
It is card only. There is nobody at the table to take cash, so no cash button is ever shown. There is no tip screen anywhere in this flow.
Steps
Each switch turns one screen of the guest flow on or off.
- Ask who is ordering first — the opening screen offers to pass the machine round the table. Off goes straight to the menu.
- Ask about allergies — guests flag allergies before the order goes in, and the flags print on the kitchen ticket.
- Let guests add another round — after the food is away, guests can order more. Off finishes the order in one go.
- Let guests call for help — a button that raises the table on the till so someone goes over.
- Let guests split by item — each guest picks the items they had and pays for those.
- Let guests split evenly — the table is divided into equal shares, paid one after another.
The two split switches only do anything when guests settle on the machine at the end. Leave at least one of them on: they are the only two ways to the payment screen, so turning both off would leave guests with no way to finish.
Receipts
Email and QR code. Guests either type an address on the machine or scan the screen to open the receipt on their phone. Leave at least one on so the last step is not a dead end. Text-message receipts are not available.
Idle screen
What the machine shows while the table is empty, and the wording guests see at either end of the flow.
- 1
Write the welcome
Welcome headline and Welcome subline are the first thing a guest reads. Leave them blank to use the built-in wording.
- 2
Write the thank-you
Thank-you headline is the last screen before the machine goes back to idle.
- 3
Add a page or image, if you want one
Idle screen address shows a page or image while the table is empty. It has to start with
https://; anything else is refused, because the machine will not load it. - 4
Set the timeout
Back to the welcome screen after is how long the machine waits with nobody touching it before it starts again. Between 15 seconds and 15 minutes.
Before you switch this on
There is a tick-box at the bottom of the page, and terminals will not start the guest flow until it is ticked.
The machine is not locked shut. A guest who is determined can leave our app and reach the tablet's own home screen. We do everything software can: nothing staff-facing is reachable from the flow at all — no settings, no records, no refunds, no unpairing, no menu switch — and getting out of the flow needs a PIN. What we cannot block is the tablet's own Home and Recents buttons.
Heads up
Only tick it once the venue has been told that plainly and is happy to take that risk on their own floor. Un-ticking it stops every terminal starting the flow again.
Saving
One Save button, top right. It saves the whole page in one go. While you have unsaved edits the header says so.
