Table ordering by QR code
What QR ordering does, what the customer sees, and where each piece is set up.
QR ordering lets a customer scan a code at their table, see your menu on their phone, and place an order. You decide whether they pay from their phone or at the till.
Note
QR ordering must be switched on for your account, and Table service must be on too — a QR order opens a tab on the table it points at. If you don't see these settings, ask your account manager.
From the sidebar, open Table Management, then Table Ordering QR Code for the settings. Per-table codes are managed under Table Management → Tables — see Add a QR code to a table.
What the customer can do
A customer who scans a table's QR code can:
- See your menu on their phone.
- Build an order.
- Either pay on their phone or have it added to the table to pay at the till — depending on your Order & Pay setting.
The order lands against the table the code belongs to, so your staff see it on the right table.
Drinks that come in sizes
If a drink is priced by size — a pint or a half, wine by the glass or the bottle — the customer must pick a size before they can add it. Each size shows its own price (not a "+£" extra), and the menu list shows the price of the size you set as the default. A pint and a half of the same drink sit as two separate lines in their basket, and the size is printed on the kitchen ticket and the receipt.
Sizes only appear for drinks you've priced that way — everything else looks exactly as it did. Set them up under Items → Sizes; see Drink sizes.
The pieces
- Which menu customers see — the code's tied menu, or the default from your menus list.
- Order & Pay — how customers pay — pay at the till, or pay from the phone.
- Shortcodes — QR links that aren't tied to a table.
- Add a QR code to a table — per-table code generation.
Branding
Branding is optional — QR ordering works without it, customers just see a generic layout. When you do want a branded look, your colours and logo come from your branding, set under Account & settings → Branding. One palette and logo covers QR ordering, online bookings and click-and-collect.
