Company details

Set your trading name, legal entity, VAT details and timezone — the details that print on every receipt.

Your company details are who your business is. They appear on every digital receipt, so it's worth getting them right early.

Find them under Account & settings → Account. The Account page shows a read-only summary of your details, your sign-in security, and a summary of your locations. To change your details, click Edit on the Account card.

Edit your details

  1. 1

    Open the Account page

From the sidebar, go to Account & settings → Account.

  2. 2

Click Edit on the Account card

    This opens the edit form.

  3. 3

    Fill in the fields

Set your trading name and, if you have one, your legal entity name and VAT details. The fields are explained below.

  4. 4

    Save

The Save button sits at the top of the page, in the header bar next to the page title. It stays greyed out until you change something — and while you have pending edits you'll see "Unsaved changes" beside it. Click Save and your changes apply straight away and start showing on new receipts.

The fields

  • Trading name — required. The name customers and staff know you by. It shows in the portal sidebar, on the device, and as the headline on receipts.
  • Legal entity name — optional. Your registered company name, if it differs from your trading name. When set, it prints beneath the trading name on receipts.
  • VAT registered — a switch. Turn it on if your business is VAT-registered. When it's on, VAT is recorded on every sale and receipts show a per-rate VAT breakdown. When it's off, no VAT is recorded or shown.
  • VAT number — shown only when VAT registered is on. You can save without it if your number hasn't arrived yet — VAT is still recorded from the moment the switch is on — but add it as soon as you have it, because your receipts must show it. UK numbers look like GB 123 4567 89.

You're responsible for your VAT-registration status and the VAT rates set on your items. Tillable calculates and shows VAT from those settings but isn't a tax adviser — check with your accountant if you're unsure.

  • Timezone — the local time used for scheduled campaigns and booking and collection times. (Order numbers no longer restart each day, so the timezone doesn't affect them.) Leave it as United Kingdom unless your venue trades in another timezone.

Note

You're responsible for your VAT-registration status and the VAT rates you set on your items. The system calculates and displays VAT from those settings, but it isn't a tax adviser — check with your accountant if you're unsure.

Security and locations

The Account page also has two more cards:

  • Security — how you sign in to the portal. You can set a password here, or keep using a one-time code sent to your email each time.
  • Locations — a summary of the sites you trade from, with a link to manage them. See Locations.

What's next

  • Add your branding so receipts and customer pages look like you.
  • Fill in your locations.
