Happy hours

Pay double points at set times — Wednesdays 5 to 7, say — on one of your loyalty schemes.

A happy hour is a window when points are worth more. You pick the days, a start and end time, and a multiplier — "double points, Wednesdays 5 to 7". Anyone who buys in that window on that scheme earns at the higher rate, and nothing changes at the till.

Want lower prices rather than more points, like £1 off each pint from 5 to 7 for Silver and above? That is a Golden Hour perk on the Perks tab. See Perks.

Want to tell members about a change rather than reward them? That is the Messages tab, where it is switched on for your venue. See Messages to members.

It belongs to one loyalty scheme. If you run more than one, the happy hour you set up only boosts the scheme you were looking at when you made it. Switch scheme at the top of the page to set one up for another.

Setting one up

Loyalty opens on your list of schemes. Click the scheme you want this happy hour to belong to, then Happy hours → New happy hour. A happy hour belongs to one scheme, so which one you open first decides whose points it doubles.

  • Name — what you would call it out loud. Double points Wednesdays.
  • Days — tick every day it runs. One happy hour can cover several.
  • Starts / Ends — the window. The end time is not included, so 17:00 to 19:00 means a sale at 18:59 counts and one at 19:00 does not.
  • Points are worth — more than ×1 and up to ×10. ×2 is double points.
  • Add the member's tier bonus on top — see below.
  • First and last day — optional. Leave them empty for something that keeps running; fill them in for a one-week promotion.

The clock is your venue's, not ours

Times are your venue's local time. A 17:00 window starts at 17:00 where you are, in summer and in winter.

A sale counts by when it was rung up, not when it reached us. If a card machine loses signal at half six and only sends the round through at nine, that round still earns the boost, because it was rung up inside the window.

Heads up

Needs the till app update. Only a till with the September 2026 update tells us when a sale was rung up. A till on an older version sends no time at all, so its sales get no boost — we would rather miss one than guess. Points on those sales still add up at the normal rate. If your happy hour is paying on some tills and not others, that is why; the fix is to install the update on each till (Settings → App update). Ask us and we will check which of yours are behind.

Running it past midnight

Set an end time earlier than the start and the window runs into the small hours: 22:00 to 02:00 covers ten at night until two the next morning. The screen says (next day) next to it so you can tell at a glance.

The days you tick are the days it starts on. A Friday 22:00 to 02:00 happy hour covers Saturday morning's first two hours — it is not a Saturday happy hour.

Happy hours and tiers

If your scheme has tiers, members already earn at their tier's rate — a Gold member on ×1.5, say. The toggle decides what happens when a Gold member buys during a ×2 happy hour:

  • On (the default) — the two multiply. That Gold member earns ×3.
  • Off — whichever is higher wins. That Gold member earns ×2, and in a ×1.2 happy hour they keep their ×1.5 rather than being made worse off by a promotion running.

The setting is per happy hour, so you can run "Wednesdays ×2, on top of tiers" alongside a flat "Freshers' week, everyone ×3".

When two overlap

Nothing stops you running two at once. If a sale falls inside both, the higher multiplier wins — never both added together, and never whichever you made first. The tier setting that applies is the winning one's. The page tells you which pairs overlap and which of them will pay.

Pausing and archiving

Pause stops a happy hour without deleting it, which is what you want for something seasonal — turn Freshers' week off in October and back on next September without typing it in again.

Archive takes it off the list for good. Points it has already paid are not touched: every boosted sale keeps the rate it was paid at, so your members' balances and your reports stay exactly as they were.

Who can change these

Anyone who can sign in to your portal. There is no separate permission for happy hours, and no per-scheme access — if someone can open Loyalty, they can set one up on any of your schemes.
