Rewards on the till

When a member's reward matches an item on the bill, a gift tag appears on that line. Tap it to pay for the item with points, and tap again to undo.

When a member is on the bill, the till already knows which rewards they can have. If an item on the bill matches one of them, a gift tag appears on that line, for example a free shot for 300 points. Staff don't need to look anything up: they tap the tag and the item is paid for with points.

Note

Loyalty V2 venues only. Gift tags on bill lines are part of Loyalty V2, which we switch on for your venue. Your tills also need the latest app update. Without Loyalty V2, rewards work as before: they come off the whole bill from the customer's sheet.

Tip

Quick reference for staff

  • Gift tag on a line, such as "Free · 300 pts" or "−£4.50 · 300 pts". The member can have this item with their points.
  • "Free · prize": the item is a prize they won from a goal. It costs no points.
  • "Paid with 300 pts": the item is now paid for with points. Tap the tag again to undo.
  • "3 rewards" on the member bar: how many lines on this bill have a tag. Tap it to see them all.
  1. 1

Put the member on the bill

Scan their card or find them as you normally would. Gift tags only show once a member is on the bill.

  2. 2

Tap the gift tag on the item

Ask the customer if they'd like to use their points. Tapping the tag opens Pay with points, which shows their points before and after, e.g. "Darren has 1,240 points. 940 left after this." Tap anywhere outside the pop-up to close it without changing anything.

  3. 3

    Confirm

The line now reads Paid with 300 pts, its price is struck through and the bill total drops. Nothing is spent yet. The points come off only when the bill is paid.

  4. 4

    Take the payment as normal

Charge whatever is left on the bill. The points come off the member's balance when the bill is paid.

The new till loyalty: a £ / ★ switch on the line

Venues on the new till loyalty (we switch it on for you) see a switch where the line's price is, instead of the gift tag:

  • £ 11.95 | ★ 1,000 pts: tap ★ to pay for the item with points. The price side updates straight away. Tap £ to put it back to money.
  • 2 × Guinness: after the first one is free, a +1 button frees the second as well. The switch reads ★ 1 of 2 free, then ★ 2 of 2 free.
  • When the points can't be used, the ★ side says why instead of vanishing: 1 per bill (the owner allows one per bill), Not enough pts, Not today (outside the days or hours the owner set), or Offline.

There's no "Pay with points" pop-up unless the owner asked staff to confirm first for that reward. Rewards the owner set to Staff only don't appear on the line; use them from the customer's rewards list. Nothing is spent until the bill is paid, exactly as with the gift tag. Owners set these in the back office, see Redemption rules.

The new customer sheet

With the new till loyalty, tapping the customer opens a sheet split in two: the customer and their points on the left, and on the right everything they can use on this bill:

  • Money off: pick £5, £10, £15 or £20, then Apply.
  • Item rewards with a matching item on the bill: Make cheapest free (or the most expensive, if the owner chose that). The tile turns green and shows how many are free; Undo puts them back.
  • Needs an item on the bill: rewards the customer has but nothing on the bill can use, such as a free coffee with no coffee ordered. Tap + Add on the reward to put the item on the bill: the menu opens with it already tapped, so sizes and options work as normal. If the reward covers several items (any hot drink, say), pick which one first. Send the order as usual, then the reward is ready to use on the bill.

The To pay figure at the bottom updates as you go, and matches the bill.

When two can't be used together

The owner decides in Loyalty › Redemption rules which savings combine on one bill. When staff add a points reward that the venue says can't be used with something already on the bill, the till follows the owner's choice:

  • Ask staff each time: a pop-up shows both options with the total to pay for each. Tap outside it to keep what's there.
  • Bigger saving wins or Higher in the list wins: the till swaps them, or tells staff in a sentence why the new one can't be used.

If the owner set limits (rewards per bill, the most a bill can be discounted, or never down to £0.00), a points reward over the limit is refused with the reason. The bill can always be paid as it stands.

A staff discount and points are one or the other on a bill unless the owner lets them combine in Loyalty › Redemption rules. When they combine, the staff discount comes off what the points leave, so a bill never goes below £0.00.

"Add 1 more … it's free": a hint to upsell

Some perks only apply once the bill qualifies, for example "order 3 tequilas, get 1 free" or "spend £50, get a free House Tequila". When the member's bill is close to one of these, a small hint appears under their name on the till, such as Add 1 more House Tequila — it's free or Spend £12.50 more for Free tequila. Staff can mention it to the customer.

The hint is only a suggestion. It never changes the bill, and it never stops you taking payment. It disappears once the bill qualifies or the member is removed. You'll only see it with Loyalty V2 switched on and a perk that has an "only when" condition set in the portal.

Undo

Changed your mind, or tapped the wrong line? Tap the Paid with … pts tag again. The price comes back and the points are no longer set aside. Undo works even when the till is offline, because nothing is spent until the bill is paid.

A dearer item than the reward covers

A reward can have a limit, such as "a free shot worth up to £4.50". On a £7.50 shot the tag reads −£4.50 · 300 pts. Once used, the line says pays the £3.00 difference, and the customer pays the rest.

A busy round

With several matching drinks on one bill, each matching line gets its own tag, and the member bar shows a count such as 3 rewards. Use as many as the customer wants and has points for. Lines that don't match a reward get no tag.

When there's no tag

A line has no tag when the member can't have that reward yet. For example, they don't have enough points, or the reward is for a higher tier. Tap the rewards chip on the member bar to see why, e.g. Needs a higher tier. The customer still pays for the item as normal.

Offline

Points can only be used while the till is online, the same as any other reward. Offline, the tags are greyed out with Points can only be used online. Take the payment as normal.

If a reward can't be applied, the bill still pays

Very occasionally the points can't be used when the bill is paid. For example:

  • the bill changed after the points were added;
  • a prize was already used on another bill.

The till then tells you why, such as "The bill changed since the points were added, so those items are back at full price." Nothing is blocked. You can:

  • take the payment at full price for those items; or
  • check the gift tags and add the points again.

No points are taken for a reward that wasn't applied.

On the receipt

The receipt shows a Paid with 500 points line with the amount it took off. For a goal prize, it shows Loyalty prize instead.

One discount per item

An item paid with points never also gets a perk such as Golden Hour or a tier's % off. Each item gets one or the other, never both. Other items on the same bill still get their perks as normal.
