Redemption rules

Decide which perks, staff discounts and points rewards can be used together on one bill, and what the till does when two clash.

A bill can qualify for more than one saving at once: a member perk like "Gold members get 10% off draught", a staff discount, money off with points, and an item paid with points. Redemption rules decide which of these can be used together. Find them under Loyalty › Redemption rules. The tab appears once the new till loyalty is switched on for your venue.

The rules cover every bill at the venue, whichever scheme the customer is in. Menu offers such as multibuys and meal deals are part of the item's price, so these rules never change them.

How offers combine

  • Stack everything. Every saving applies. The simplest choice, and it can get generous, so use the limits below.
  • Best one per bill. Only the biggest saving applies. Staff see what was skipped on the bill and can swap with one tap.
  • Custom. Choose, pair by pair, which kinds can be used together. Tap a pairing to switch it between Combine and Pick one.

Until you change anything, the till works as it always has: a member perk combines with everything, and staff can use a staff discount or points on a bill, but not both. To let staff use both, for a comp or a manager's discount on a member's bill, choose Stack everything, or in Custom switch Staff discount with Money off with points and Free item with points to Combine.

When a staff discount and points are both on a bill, items paid with points come off first and are not discounted again, the staff discount comes off what is left, then money off with points. If that would take the bill below £0.00, the staff discount is the one that gets smaller, never the customer's points. A card payment sent to the card machine records every discount on the bill.

The example bill on the page shows what a customer would pay under the rules you have chosen: £18.30 of drinks with 10% off and £5 off with points comes to £11.47 when both apply.

When two can't be used together

  • Higher in the list wins. The till keeps whichever is higher in your priority list.
  • Bigger saving wins. The customer always gets the best deal.
  • Ask staff each time. The till shows both choices with the total to pay for each, and staff pick one.

A staff discount is never swapped out for points: staff added it on purpose. If the two can't be used together, the till keeps the staff discount and says why the points can't be added.

Priority

Put the four kinds in order with the arrows. The top one wins ties.

Whatever the order, the till always takes item discounts off first, then percentage discounts on the bill, then money off. That way a bill can never be discounted by more than it costs.

Limits

  • Most a bill can be discounted, as a percentage.
  • Points rewards per bill.
  • Rewards can take a bill to £0.00.

When a bill goes over a limit, the till trims the last discount to fit. It never stops the bill being paid.

A reward's own rules

Each reward's page has an On the till section:

  • When it's offered. Suggest on the item puts a one-tap button on the bill line. Staff only keeps it to the customer's rewards list. The till never spends a customer's points by itself.
  • If more than one qualifies. The cheapest item, the most expensive, or staff choose.
  • Per bill. How many of this reward one bill can have.
  • Ask staff to confirm before the points are spent.
  • Days and Only at certain times. Outside them the till shows the reward as not available today. A time window that ends earlier than it starts runs past midnight: Friday 6pm to 2am still counts as Friday at 1am.
