Reporting — dashboards and widgets
The new Reporting section. Dashboards show your numbers at a glance; widgets are the charts and figures you build and put on them.
Reporting is where you read your numbers and build your own views of them. It has two parts: Dashboards, the pages you look at, and Widgets, the charts and figures that sit on those pages.
Is this what you have?
Look at your sidebar. If it shows Reporting with Dashboards and Widgets underneath, this guide is for you. If it shows Reports on its own, your venue is on the reports you know: start with the Reports overview instead. Nothing on this page applies to you yet, and nothing you have set up is lost when Reporting is switched on.
Dashboards
Open Reporting → Dashboards. The page has three parts:
- Last 7 days — the same strip of headline figures as before: takings, number of sales, average sale and VAT.
- Your dashboards — one card for each dashboard, with a small picture of its layout, how many widgets it holds and where it is shown. A padlock means only you can see it.
- Today's reports — every report you had before. Each tile carries a label: Classic opens the page you know; Dashboard opens the same report rebuilt as a dashboard. Where a dashboard leaves part of the old page behind (the floor-plan heatmap on Table performance, say), the tile tells you where that part still lives.
If you see Your new dashboards are still being prepared, we are still checking your numbers. Until then every tile opens the classic report, so you never see a figure we have not checked.
Make a dashboard
- 1
Press New dashboard
It sits beside Your dashboards.
- 2
Name it
Something you will recognise, like "Friday night" or "Kitchen".
- 3
Choose where to start
Blank gives you an empty page. A template starts from one of ours, such as Sales at a glance. A copy starts from one of your own dashboards.
- 4
Choose where it shows
Dashboards only keeps it here. You can also show it on Home, or, if you use Inventory, on its Usage or Margin page. A page shows one dashboard, so picking a page that already has one replaces it there.
- 5
Choose who can see it
Everyone with access to dashboards, or only you.
- 6
Press Create
A blank dashboard opens ready for you to add widgets.
Email it every Monday is marked Coming: you can tick it now and we keep your choice, but nothing is sent yet.
Read a dashboard
The bar across the top reads like a sentence: Showing: the dashboard's name, the time frame, what it is compared with, and the site. The time frame and comparison apply to every widget on the page at once. The site comes from the site picker; a widget whose numbers have no site (money paid to your bank, for example) says it covers every site.
Widgets made in the new widget builder keep their own time frame, comparison and VAT setting. When the bar asks for something different, the widget says Keeps its own dates, not the page's; on a page for one site it says it shows every site you can see. If reports are busy, the widget says so and tries again by itself. If it covers too much to draw at once, it suggests a shorter range.
Each widget has a … menu: Open widget, Edit this widget, Also show on… (put it on another dashboard too) and a CSV download of the numbers behind it.
Change a dashboard
Press Customize to rearrange it. You can drag widgets into a new order, change a widget's size (Small, Medium, Large, Wide, Tall and wider still), take one off, and press Add widgets to add more: Your widgets lists what you have saved, Templates lists ours, and Build your own opens the widget builder. Press Done when you are finished. Show on…, Rename and Delete sit at the top of the page.
Our template dashboards are read-only. Press Use this template to make your own copy you can change.
Widgets
Open Reporting → Widgets to see every widget in one list: the ones you and your team saved, the ones moved across from your old Home widgets, ones made from an AI Reporting answer, and our built-in ones. For each you can see its data, its chart, which dashboards it is on and where it is shown, who made it and when it last changed. Narrow the list by Data or Shown on, or search by name.
From each row's menu you can Add to a dashboard (an existing one or a new one), Open in the builder, or Delete it. Deleting a widget takes it off every dashboard it was on.
Press New widget to build one. See Build a widget.
Who sees what
A widget only shows numbers the person looking is allowed to see. If someone's access level does not include money figures, or staff hours, a widget built on them reads No access for that person. Some kinds of data only appear when your venue uses that part of Tillable: Kitchen numbers need kitchen screens, Bookings numbers need Bookings, and so on. See What each kind of data counts.
