Devices

The list of tills and terminals connected to your account — pair, assign and remove them.

Your devices are the tills and terminals connected to your account. Manage them under Store settings → Devices. The list shows each device's name, whether it's online, its location, its mode, when it was last seen, and how it joined — with a device code, with your join code, or by someone signing in on the device itself.

If you have more than one site, the list also shows which site each device sits at, and you can filter to one site at a time.

Note

Pairing a device connects it to your account, but a terminal can only take card payments once card processing is set up on your account. That's a separate step from pairing — see Set up payment processing.

Device names

Every device gets a name of its own — something like potato-badger-harbour — as soon as it joins. That is so you can tell two identical tills apart without walking over to them.

To change it, tap the device in the list and click Rename next to its name. Leave the box empty and save to go back to the generated name.

Underneath the name you'll see what the device calls itself (its model, e.g. Saturn1000F2) and its serial number. Some devices don't report a serial — those show Unknown serial, which is normal and doesn't mean anything is wrong.

Renaming a device also updates it everywhere else: your reports, your exports, and the device's own screen on its next check-in.

Codes waiting to be used

If you've generated a device code and nobody has used it yet, it appears above the list under Codes waiting to be used, with its name (if you gave it one) and how long it has left. Click Show code to read the digits again. Codes drop off this list as soon as they're used or they expire — so anything shown there still works. Remove bins a code you no longer want outstanding.

Naming codes is what makes this manageable when you're setting up several devices at once — see Pair a device.

Open a device to see its slide-over panel. Under its status line the panel shows which version of the Tillable app the device runs (for example Tillable app v5.0.20) — the number a help article means when it asks for a newer app.
