Create a mode
Add a mode from a built-in starting point (Standard, Bar, Restaurant, Connected, Custom) and adjust its capabilities.
- 1
Click Add mode
In Store settings → Modes, click Add mode. Name it (e.g. Coffee window) and pick a starting point — Standard, Bar, Restaurant, Connected, or Custom. Each comes with a sensible set of capabilities you can then adjust.
For takeaway, start with Standard and turn on the Takeaway capability — see Mode capabilities. Standard is the simplest base; you add only what you need.
- 2
Optionally copy settings from another mode
You can clone the capabilities of an existing mode to start from, or skip this and start fresh.
- 3
Adjust its capabilities
The mode opens in its editor. Switch capabilities on or off — see Mode capabilities.
The four built-in starting points (Standard, Bar, Restaurant, Connected) are fully editable — open one and change its capabilities to fit your setup. Use Duplicate on a row if you want a fresh copy instead of editing the starting point.
What's next
- Mode capabilities.
- Lock a mode with passcodes — and the rest of the Staff section, including Basket follows the staff member.
- Assign it to a device.
Note
Visual builder (beta). If your account has the beta enabled, the Add mode window also offers Visual builder — instead of the settings page, your new mode opens on a full-screen canvas showing the till itself, where you place and arrange its widgets directly. Everything you build there stays as a draft until you press Publish.
