Use a join code

Set your own 8-digit code that any device can pair with, until you change or remove it.

A join code is your own 8 digits that any device can pair with. Unlike a pairing code, it does not expire and it is not used up, so you can bring several devices online in one visit without going back to the portal between each one.

  1. 1

    Choose your digits

In Store settings → Devices, find Join code and type 8 digits. Codes that are easy to guess are refused, so avoid repeated digits and runs like 123456.

  2. 2

    Enter it on each device

On the till or terminal, enter the join code exactly as you would a pairing code. Repeat on as many devices as you need.

  3. 3

Change or remove it when you are done

Use Change to replace the digits, or Remove to switch the method off. Devices that already paired keep working either way.

Which one should I use

| | Pairing code | Join code | |---|---|---| | Where the digits come from | Generated for you | You choose them | | How long it lasts | 3 minutes, 1 hour or 24 hours — you choose | Until you change or remove it | | How many devices | One | Any number |

Use a pairing code for a single device. Use a join code when you are setting up several, or when you re-pair devices often.

Note

A join code works until you remove it, so anyone who sees it can connect a device to your account. Keep it to staff who set up devices, and change it if someone who knew it leaves. Reveal shows the digits and hides them again after a few seconds.
