The floor plan builder
Place tables from the tray, position and resize them, and add decorative items on the canvas.
When you open a floor plan you land in the builder. This page is how to lay your tables out on it.
The three parts of the builder
- a canvas in the middle — a fine grid that represents your room,
- a sections tray down one side — the tables that belong to this location's sections but aren't placed yet, grouped by section, and
- a floating inspector panel for whichever table you've selected.
On first open, a brand-new plan's canvas is empty and all your tables sit waiting in the tray.
Add several tables at once
Under the sections tray, Add several tables creates a row of tables in one go. Set how many, what to call them, which number to start at, and how many seats each one has.
Before you press the button it shows you the names it is about to create. That matters because table names are unique across your whole venue, not just within a section — if you already have a "Table 12" in the bar, a run starting at 10 gives you 10, 11, 13, 14 and tells you it stepped over 12. The gap is explained up front rather than looking like a mistake afterwards.
Seats apply to every table in the run. Leave the box empty if the tables are different sizes and you would rather set each one in the inspector.
Add one more table to a section
In the sections tray, the dashed + after a section's tables adds one more table to that section. It follows the names the section already uses: a section whose tables are "B 1" to "B 5" gets "B 6" next. If the section has no tables yet, or its tables don't share one name and number pattern, the new table is named after the section instead, for example "Bar 1". The new table lands in the tray, ready to place.
Lay it out
- 1
Place a table from the tray
Drag a table tile from the sections tray onto the canvas. It snaps to the grid as you move it.
- 2
Position it
Drag a placed table to move it; alignment guides appear so it lines up neatly with its neighbours.
- 3
Resize, rotate and shape it
Select a table and use the inspector to set its size, rotation and shape, so the plan matches your real room.
- 4
Add decorative items
Use add an item to drop in a bar, counter, wall or door. These are display-only markers that make the plan readable — staff can't open a tab on them, and they don't appear in your Tables list.
Tip
There's no Save button — the builder saves as you go. Each change is stored automatically (you'll see a brief "Saved" confirmation), so you can leave the page whenever you like. If you close the builder with no tables placed, the plan simply stays empty — nothing is lost.
The table panel stays out of your way
The inspector panel opens at the top right. Drag it by its title to wherever suits you and it stays there, including the next time you open the plan. If it would cover the table you just selected, it steps aside for that table and then goes back. Use the arrow in its title bar to fold it down to a strip.
Select several tables at once
Drag a box across an empty part of the canvas and every table it touches is selected. Hold Shift while you drag to add to what you already have, or hold Shift and click single tables in or out.
A bar appears at the bottom saying how many you have. The group stays selected when you click an empty spot, so you can't lose it by accident. Press Esc or Clear on the bar when you're finished. Drag any one of the selected tables to move them all together.
Split an area into sections
Select the tables that should become their own section, then use the bar:
- New section from these — name the section and the selected tables move into it. Staff who could see those tables on the till still can: the new section is given to the same staff as the section the tables came from.
- Move to… — move the selected tables into a section you already have.
Walls, bars and other items have no section, so they are left as they are. One Undo puts every table back in the section it came from.
Note
If you take bookings, a new section isn't in any bookings setup yet. Add it under Bookings, or those tables stop being offered for bookings.
Tables you place come from your table list and your sections. The builder shows tables already on this plan, plus unplaced tables from this location's sections waiting in the tray. See Sections.
Coming here from the bookings checklist
If you opened this page from Get started with bookings, a black bar sits across the top with a button back to that checklist. Press it whenever you like — anything already saved stays saved. Opening this page any other way leaves it exactly as it is, with no bar.
