Pay by cash

Take cash on the terminal — enter what the customer handed over and the terminal works out the change.

Pay with Cash is available when the device's mode has the Cash payments capability on (see Modes). If you expect it and don't see it, that's where to look.

    Tap Pay with Cash

    The cash screen shows the amount due.

    Enter what the customer handed over

    Type the tendered amount, or use the quick-amount shortcuts for common notes — Exact plus the next few round notes, sitting just under the amounts and above Add cash tip. The screen works out the change to give. Mis-typed a digit? The backspace key (right of the 0) deletes the last digit, while C clears the whole amount.

    Confirm

    Confirm the cash payment. The order closes the same way a card sale does.

Cash sales can't be refunded through the terminal's card-refund flow — there's no card to send money back to. Hand the cash back at the till. See Refund a settled sale.
