Offline card closes

Understand the review list of tables closed as "Paid on device" while the till was offline, and how matching works.

If a till loses its internet connection, your team can still close a table by taking the card payment on a handheld terminal and marking the table "Paid on device". This page lists those closes so you can check each one is accounted for.

From the sidebar, click Store settings, then Offline card closes.

What the page is for

When the till comes back online, each "Paid on device" close is matched automatically to the card payment taken on the handheld. The page has two parts:

  • Awaiting a matching payment — the worklist. These offline closes haven't been matched to a card payment yet.
  • Recently matched — recent closes that were matched automatically. No action needed; they're shown so you can see matching working.

The count next to "Awaiting a matching payment" is the exact number still outstanding, even if the list itself shows only the most recent.

What a row means

Each row shows the table, when it was served, the device, the order number, the amount, and the currency — enough to recognise the sale and check it against your payouts.

A row in Awaiting a matching payment means the system couldn't link this offline close to a card payment. That usually means one of two things:

  • the card wasn't actually taken on a handheld, or
  • the handheld payment couldn't be linked back to the table.

How to reconcile

Check each outstanding row against your payouts to confirm the money was taken. Because these closes are kept out of your sales totals, nothing is double-counted while they're unmatched — a matched close is the one that counts toward revenue.

Heads up

This page is read-only for now. You review the list and check it against your payouts; there are no buttons here yet to chase, confirm, or void a close. Those actions are planned for a later update.

Note

Offline closes only ever appear if a till lost internet and a table was closed as "Paid on device". If your tills stay online, this page stays empty.

If you have more than one site

When you run more than one site, this page follows the site picked under the Tillable logo, the count included, and a Site column says where each close happened. A close with no site shows only under All sites.
