Floor plans

What a floor plan is, and how to create one — a canvas your terminals show so staff tap the right table.

A floor plan is a layout of your room — your tables arranged on a canvas the way they sit in real life. Your terminals show this layout so staff tap the right table to open or pay a tab.

You can have more than one floor plan (for example a ground floor and a terrace). If you run more than one location, each plan belongs to one of them; with a single location the whole idea of locations stays out of your way.

Note

Floor plans need both Till and Table service switched on for your account. If you don't see them, ask your account manager.

From the sidebar, click Table Management, then Floor plans.

Where you see two choices above the list, Floor plan editor and Table Studio, this article is about the first one. The second is covered in Table Studio. Where there is nothing above the list, the page is the floor plan editor and nothing else.

Create a floor plan

  1. 1

    Click Create a floor plan

The button is in the top-right of the Floor plans page.

  2. 2

    Name it

Give it a clear name like "Ground floor". If you have more than one location, you'll also be asked which one this plan belongs to. With a single location there is no such question — the plan is simply yours.

  3. 3

    Lay out your tables

Saving opens the builder. See The floor plan builder.

How floor plans relate to locations and sections

This only applies if you run more than one location. With a single location there is no location filter, no location column and no location step — the concept does not appear at all.

  • A floor plan belongs to one location. On the list, plans are grouped by location, with an Unassigned group for any plan with no location.
  • A section (Bar, Dining room…) belongs to a location and can appear on any of that location's floor plans. The same section can show on more than one plan.

Use the location filter at the top of the list to focus on one site.

Coming here from the bookings checklist

Opening this list from Get started with bookings puts a black bar across the top with a button back to that checklist — and clicking through into an item keeps it, so you can get back from the editor too. Reaching this page any other way leaves it exactly as it is, with no bar.
